This position is located in Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services. The required entry-level written exam for this position will be held on June 29 and 30, 2018.

Entry Level Salary: $40,014.18 per year ($19.24 per hour)

Lateral Entry Salary: Applicants may be eligible for up to 10% increase based on years of experience (subject to program requirements)

Academy Graduate: $40,014.18- After 18 months probationary period, salary increases by 5%

Certified Paramedic: Additional 5% Differential Pay for certified paramedics and an additional 5% after completion of recruit school if assigned to an ALS
station.

Annual Education Incentive Pay: $1,000 Associates, $2,000 Bachelors, $3,000 Masters (paid as quarterly payments per policy)

Tuition Assistance available while attending college (per policy)

Paid Military Leave: up to 18 days per year (per policy)

Essential Duties

Performs work in controlling and extinguishing fires.

Performs first aid and emergency rescue and medical treatment at the emergency scene.

Responds to and performs duties as assigned, at accidents, disasters, emergency rescues, searches, and any other emergency situations.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and ability to graduate from the Fire Academy within 12 months required.

Valid Driver’s License

Age 18 or older on or before the written exam date

Must successfully complete the following:
Written entry level test
Physical ability test
In-depth background investigation
Polygraph examination
Psychological examination
Medical examination and drug screen

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job, depending on area of assignment, the incumbent is regularly required to lift, move or carry objects over 200 pounds; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles; utilize feet and legs or hands and arms; maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or navigating narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and to reach with hands and arms.

While performing the essential functions of this position, depending on area of assignment, the employee is frequently exposed to fire, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, and dampness/humidity. While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to possible bodily injury from falling from high, exposed places; and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery

The entry-level written test for this position will be given: June 29 -30, 2018.

Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by Internal Affairs. If you are approved to take the written exam, you will receive an email with your assigned date, time and location for the exam.

You should receive an email no later than June 15th. If you do not receive an email by this date, please contact CobbEmployment@cobbcounty.org.

There will be representatives from Fire and Emergency Services, Internal Affairs and Human Resources at the test to explain the hiring process, and to answer questions you have about the position.
